Grants & Scholarships

Applications for Synod Grants & Scholarships are considered on a new scheduled!

Beginning in 2014, the Synod’s Grants & Scholarships Commission will meet in April, July, & October to review applications submitted during the previous quarter. Notices based on the Commission’s decisions are sent out normally within two weeks.

Grants
Any Presbyterian organization within the synod may apply for Mission Grants. However, prior­ity will be given to applications from partnerships with two or more con­grega­tions, pres­byteries, institutions related to synod by covenant, multicultural en­deavors (or committees of these organiza­tions). The synod becomes a member of this partnership when the grant is approved.

Step 1:  Download the updated list of available grants here! Decide which grant might best fit the need of your program/event/mission/network and make sure that there are funds available.

Step 2: Click here to complete a Mission Grant Application online. It’s simple, just fill in your information and choose the grant account you’re requesting. If you have questions about the form or how to make it work for your group, email Valerie Knox at vyoung@synodsun.com or call 214-390-1894.

Step 3: Don’t forget to email your budget to office@synodsun.com.

Scholarships
Any Presbyterian within the synod may apply for a Scholarship. Scholarships are for individuals within the Synod of the Sun who meet the criteria for assistance within the specified purposes of the funds.

Step 1: Download the updated list of available scholarships here! Find the scholarship that best fits your need and make sure that there are funds available. (REMEMBER: Masters of Divinity Scholarships are available through the Synod of the Sun FOUNDATION at www.sunfound.org.)

          Step 1.1: IF you wish to apply for a Seminary Scholarship as a Ruling Elder, a letter of recommendation from your presbytery is required. Secure this letter prior to completing Step 2 – as you will be asked to download the letter as supporting information.

 Step 3: Some applications may require special acknowledgment from your presbytery. Don’t forget to follow-up by emailing that information to office@synodsun.com
